Scheme Benefits

By using a firm registered with the Competent Person Scheme offered via this site by BREC, and supported by ECA, you can expect the additional benefit of a scheme which has been developed by two well-established organisations, offering unrivalled experience of the industry and whose business it is to ensure electrical installation work is carried out to the appropriate standards by competent firms.

Who are BRE Certification Limited (BREC) and the Electrical Contractors Association (ECA)?

BREC is a wholly owned subsidiary of the Foundation for the Built Environment (a registered charity), and a sister company to BRE which, for over eighty years, has carried out research into the safety, regulation and performance of buildings on behalf of the UK Government.

The ECA represents over 2,000 member firms that carry out the greater part of all the recorded electrical installation work in the UK. It is one of the principal aims of the ECA that electrical installation work should be carried out by competent firms to high standards of quality and safety.
