Consumer - Warranty

Competent Persons should offer you the option of taking out an insurance-backed warranty to cover the work you have had done.

Taking out a warranty will ensure that if any of the work you have had carried out by a Competent Person does not comply with the Building Regulations it will be rectified, subject to the terms of the warranty.

The Competent Person should provide you with information on where a warranty can be purchased. It is your decision whether or not to purchase such cover.

The warranty insurer for the EC Certification scheme is Electrical Contractors’ Insurance Company Limited (“ECIC”) who are a risk carrying general insurance company, authorised and regulated in the UK by the Financial Services Authority.
